New Delhi: With COVID-19 positivity rate remaining high, the Delhi government on Sunday extended the ongoing lockdown by another week.
Delhi Chief Minster Arvind Kejriwal made the announcement regarding extension of the lockdown on Sunday noon. “Coronavirus still continues to wreak havoc in the city. Public opinion is that lockdown should increase. So the lockdown is being extended for one week,” NDTV quoted him as saying.
Following the chief minister’s announcement, the lockdown, which was imposed on April 19 night, will remain in force till 5 am on May 3.
The national capital has reported 36% to 37% positivity rate. The city had recorded a positivity rate of 36.24% on Thursday which was the highest since the pandemic broke out. While it dropped to 32.27% on Saturday evening, the number of fatalities reached 357.
