Bhubaneswar: Amid the surge in COVID-19 cases in Odisha, the Sundargarh district administration has on Monday sealed its borders with Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh besides intensifying patrolling in the areas located along the boundaries of the states.
Sundargarh district reported the highest number of 268 new cases out of 1,370 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. The number of cases in the district has gone up to 1,628 in the last 11 days.
The spike in cases prompted the district administration to issue an order asking people from neighbouring state to furnish their COVID-negative reports for entry to the state, senior officials said.
Surveillance at the border check posts on highways and railway stations. The RTO officials have been directed to allow entry of people with negative RT-PCR reports or final vaccination certificates.
