COVID-19 Surge: Bhubaneswar Records Highest Single-Day Spike, Active Cases Near 6000-Mark

Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 cases in the state capital reported the highest-ever single-day spike on Tuesday with 773 cases in the last 24 hours.

Among the new cases, 140 are from quarantine centres while the local contact cases have gone up to 632 (82%).

The maximum cases have been reported from Nayapalli (42) followed by Khandagiri (41), Chandrasekharpur (32), Baramunda (18), Jayadev Vihar and Laxmisagar (16 each), Badagada (13) and Jagamara (11).

Although 343 patients have recovered, the rate of recovery in proportion to the number of new cases is less than 50 per cent (44%).

Out of a total of 65,144 cases in Khurda district, Bhubaneswar accounts for 64% (41,401).

With 35,227 recoveries, the capital city has now 5896 active cases.
