Mumbai: With the COVID-19 situation showing no signs of improvement, the Maharashtra government on Sunday announced a slew of measures, including weekend lockdown, to curb the huge spike in coronavirus cases.
Following the cabinet meeting, chaired by chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, state minister Nawab Malik said that there will be complete lockdown on weekends – from 8 pm on Fridays till 7 am on Mondays.
Public transport will operate at 50 per cent of capacity, but there will be no restriction on opening of industrial units and markets.
“Only essential services will be permitted. Restaurants are permitted only for takeaway and parcel services. For offices, employees will have to work from home. A detailed SOP will be released soon,” said the minister.
