Baripada: Taking note of the rise in COVID-19 cases, the authorities of the Similipal National Park in Mayurbhanj district on Saturday closed the park to the visitors for an indefinite period.
In a notification, Regional Chief Conservator of Forest (RCCF) said there is possibility of further spread of COVID-19 and threat to wildlife due to large congregation of tourists.
As a precautionary measure, the Forest Department has ordered the closure of the park indefinitely, he added.
On Friday, Nandankanan Zoo in Bhubaneswar was also closed to visitors to prevent spread of the virus.
