Puri: The COVID-19 caseload in Puri district rose to 803 on Saturday with 50 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.
Also on Saturday, Puri Collector Balwant Singh informed that the two-day weekly shutdown in the district will be lifted in the first phase on an experimental basis. However, barring emergency work and essential services, there will be restrictions on the entry of outsiders to the district, he added.
The collector also reiterated that people from outside Puri district will not be given permission to cremate bodies at Swargadwar.
Besides, Konark Sun Temple will remain closed till August 31 to avoid crowding by visitors.
With three deaths and 377 recoveries, Puri district has 421 active cases at present.
