Baripada: The COVID-19 positive cases in Mayurbhanj district went up to 499 on Friday with 15 fresh cases reported in the last 24 hours.
In a tweet, district collector Vineet Bhardwaj said that out of 15 cases, one each has been detected in Jashipur, Kaptipada, Karanjia, Morada and Tiring blocks, 2 cases have been reported from Bisoi block and 8 cases from Sukruli block.
Out of the above, 11 persons are the returnees from other states. While 7 persons are returnees from Tamil Nadu, 2 from Telangana and one each from Karnataka and Gujarat.
All of them were in institutional quarantine centres. The rest four persons were affected by local contacts in Bisoi, Jashipur and Tiring blocks.
The contact tracing of all the cases are going on, the collector said, adding that all infected persons have been shifted to the COVID hospital in Baripada.
Out of 499 positive cases so far in the district, 146 are active cases while 351 patients have recovered and are being discharged from the COVID hospital.
