Bhubaneswar: COVID-19 testing in the capital city has crossed 3 lakh covering around 30% of the population by Tuesday.
The testing, which was launched March, has been increased in phases depending on the pace of the spread of coronavirus. The tests, which are conducted in government and private health care facilities, have already covered 3,01,893 people, according to a release of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
While 2 lakh people had tested by September 18, one more lakh underwent testing by October 12.
The BMC has been regularly campaigning to promote awareness on COVID-19 through public address system, media, Twitter and special vehicles. While the municipal body has opened testing centres in all the zones under it, the test facilities have been extended to 23 PHCs and CHCs, the release stated.
