Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha went up to 5058 on Sunday with 66 more patients from 16 districts succumbing to the infection.
The Health and Family Welfare Department has clarified that the list does not reflect the deaths occurring on a particular day. Rather, it gave out the details of the past deaths for which the audit process has been duly completed and the cause of death has been identified as COVID-19.
Among the 66 deceased, Khurda district has the highest fatality with 23 followed by 8 from Ganjam, 6 each from Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh, 5 from Boudh, 3 each from Bargarh and Nayagarh, 2 each from Gajapati, Kendrapada and Puri, and one each from Bhadrak, Balangir, Rayagada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur and Kandhamal districts.
With this, Khurda district has so far reported 897 deaths followed by Sundargarh (440), Ganjam (416), Cuttack (311), Puri (304), Bargarh (241), Angul (198), Mayurbhanj (184), Balasore (156), Rayagada (152), Sambalpur (150), Nayagarh (139), Jharsuguda (136), Kendrapada (109) and Dhenkanal (101).
