Lucknow: Dharmveer Kumar, a migrant labourer from Bihar who was cycling home to his native place in Khagaria district from New Delhi, died on the way, in Uttar Pradesh.
The 28-year-old, who worked as a labourer in the Indian capital city, and six others were riding on bicycles — all headed to Bihar. The mishap happened in Saharanpur district, under the Kotwali police station, near the toll plaza on the Delhi-Bareilly highway.
“They cycled all day from Delhi and stayed overnight at the toll plaza where they slept. In the morning, one of the seven did not wake up. The others then called the police and we intervened,” said Circle Officer (City) Praveen Yadav.
The cause of death has not yet been ascertained.
It was learnt that Kumar’s sample has been sent to a Lucknow hospital for testing for coronavirus.
