Jalna: A couple of health officials here in Maharashtra have tested COVID-19 positive days after taking the second jab of the vaccine, said an official on Thursday.
Both the patients took a second dose only a few days ago. However, both of them experienced mild symptoms of COVID-19, the official revealed.
“When their samples were examined, they tested positive for the infection,” the official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
According to experts, the case served as a strong reminder that vaccines don’t work instantly and recipients must follow COVID-19 protocols. Both patients suffered from mild infection.
If Additional civil surgeon Padmaja Saraf is to be believed, it takes around 42 days for the antibodies to grow after both the doses of the vaccine are administered, reported the news agency.
“One must wear a mask and adhere to all Covid-19 protocols even after taking both the doses of the vaccine,” she was quoted as saying by the agency.
With 204 fresh COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, the district’s tally soared to 17,417 on Thursday.
