COVID-19 Update: Cases Jump To 7447, Toll Touches 239 In India

New Delhi: India reported 40 COVID-19 deaths and 1,035 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the sharpest increase so far, with the total number of infections crossing 7400, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday morning.

According to the ministry, the number of coronavirus cases in the country jumped to 7,447, including 6,565 active cases, 643 cured, discharged or migrated people and 239 fatalities.

The report of the new cases comes on a day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold a meeting with all chief ministers to decide whether to extend the 21-day lockdown. The country-wide restrictions are to end on April 14.
