Bhubaneswar: While COVID-19 positive cases in the Odisha capital is on the verge of crossing the 22,000 mark following 369 fresh cases being reported in last 24 hours, the continuous rise in local contact cases has become a major cause of worry.
Among the 369 new cases, 294 are local contacts and 75 from quarantine.
Sailashree Vihar area in the city has reported the maximum 23 cases, followed by 13 in Saheed Nagar, 12 each in Chandrasekharpur, Patia and Rasulgarh, 10 in Bomikhal, 9 each in Laxmisagar and Pokhariput, 8 each in Nayapallii and VSS Nagar, 7 in Niladri Vihar and 6 each in Badagada, Palaspalli and Unit-8.
On the other hand, the city reported 365 recoveries.
With 93 deaths and 18,248 recoveries, Bhubaneswar has 3,537 active cases. The total tally stands at 21,895.
As per data available with the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), the city has been witnessing more local contact cases than quarantine cases since September 5.
