Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 vaccination in Odisha, which began on January 16, will be conducted thrice a week, said Health and Family Welfare department on Friday.
Talking to media, Director, Health and Family Welfare Bijay Panigrahi said due to the engagement of doctors and health staff in the vaccination drive, health services in the Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Primary Health Centres (CHCs) in the state have been affected.
“We had raised this issue during a video conferencing with the Centre recently and as per the decision taken, the COVID vaccination in Odisha will be conducted in the CHCs and PHCs three days – Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. However, barring the government holidays, the vaccination will continue in all government and private medical colleges and hospitals everyday,” he added.
Panigrahi further said that while 1.92 lakh health workers of the state will be vaccinated by January 25 in the first phase, 1,11,915 have been vaccinated till Thursday. “A total of 44,880 health workers across the state have been vaccinated in 436 sessions on Thursday with the highest of 121 per cent target,” he pointed out.
