Bhubaneswar: The much-awaited COVID-19 vaccination began in all 30 districts of Odisha on Saturday with Prahllad Suna, a sweeper of the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC), being the first person to get the vaccine.
The vaccination of the 1.92 lakh health workers and frontline COVID warriors began in 161 session sites, including six in Bhubaneswar.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will take the feedback on the ongoing drive from Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and the district headquarters hospitals in Sundargarh and Ganjam at 12 pm.
For the vaccination, the Health and Family Welfare Department has sent the Centre’s revised guidelines to each district.
As per the guidelines, persons below 18 years, pregnant and lactating women, ailing and those undergoing treatment for other diseases will not be vaccinated.
Apart from this, persons who are vaccinated for other diseases within 14 days won’t be vaccinated and those having COVID-19 symptoms will be allowed for the vaccination after 5-8 weeks.
