Bengaluru: A day after Bengaluru emerged as the city with the highest active COVID-19 caseload in the country, the Karnataka government on Monday announced a two-week curfew from 9 pm on Tuesday.
Essential services allowed between 6 and 10 am, after which shops will be shut. Only construction, manufacturing, and agriculture sectors will be allowed. Public transport will remain shut.
The state had reported the biggest rise of over 34,000 new cases the previous day.
In Bengaluru, 1,80,542 patients are currently under treatment in hospitals and in home isolation, which is a whopping 151.35 percent increase since April 15, when the figure was 71,827.
The state has a positivity rate of nearly 20 per cent.
