Bhubaneswar: The government sponsored vaccination against COVID has covered 92% of adult population with at least one dose since the drive was launched across the country one year back.
The drive was rolled out on January 16 last year with vaccine administered to healthcare workers in the first phase. Vaccination of frontline workers started on February 2. Over 68% of adult population have been fully vaccinated so far.
According to a release of Health and Family Welfare, the vaccination coverage exceeded 156.76 crore (1,56,76,15,454) till 7 am on Sunday with administration of more than 66 lakh doses (66,21,395) in the last 24 hours.
The active caseload in the country currently stands at 15,50,377 at 4.18% while the recovery rate is 94.51%. As many as 1,38,331 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours taking the total figure to 3,50,85,721.
Total 7,743 Omicron cases were detected in the last 24 hours, registering an increase of 28.17% since Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Centre has decided to issue a postal stamp to mark the completion of one year of the vaccination drive.
