Bhubaneswar: The COVID active cases in the city came below 3,000 for the first time this month with 2,997 cases reported in the last 24 hours. In the last four days, the city had 3014 active cases on Saturday, 3068 on Friday, 3081 on Thursday and 3105 on Wednesday.
The daily COVID positive cases also dropped below 200 for second consecutive day as 143 persons tested positive for the disease during the period. The city had reported 190 cases on Saturday, 243 on Friday and 234 on Thursday.
According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 40 of the new cases are from quarantine and 103 local contacts.
Of the local contacts, maximum of 8 cases have been reported from Khandagiri, followed by 7 from Nayapalli and 6 from Patia.
Another 159 patients recovered from the disease during the period. The city reported one more COVID death in the last 24 hours taking the toll to 1004.
Bhubaneswar now has 2,997 active cases while the affected tally has gone up to 1,07,913, the BMC stated.
