COVID Care Facilities To Be Closed In Odisha Due To Nil Occupancy

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday ordered for the immediate closure of temporary medical centres (TMCs) and COVID Care Homes (CCHs), citing nil occupancy.

Health and Family Welfare Department’s Additional Chief Secretary PK Mohapatra further said that occupancy had dramatically fallen in COVID Care Centres (CCCs) and there were no patients in many of them.

“Hence, CCCs should also be closed down wherever there are no patients and in other places where the occupancy is less it should be scaled down,” he wrote to district collectors and municipal commissioners.

The letter stated that the requisite manpower of CCCs can be remobilised to their original positions. In the case of CCHs, the health personnel can be redeployed in the districts, where their services can be better utilized.

“Collectors to personally monitor the implementation of the directive and give compliance on a daily basis to the Special Relief Commissioner in a specific format. In case of any emergency requirement of these facilities, it can be created at a short notice as a buffer,” the letter added.
