Bhubaneswar: For the second day on Wednesday, the daily COVID caseload in the city crossed 200. The positive cases were below 200 for three consecutive days till Monday.
As many as 221 persons tested positive for the disease in the city in the last 24 hours. There were 226 cases on Tuesday, 172 on Monday, 143 on Sunday and 190 on Saturday, while the caseload was 243 on Friday and 234 on Thursday.
According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 48 of the new cases are from quarantine and 151 local contacts.
Of the local contacts, maximum 18 cases were reported from Patia, followed by 16 from Nayapalli, 9 from Jharpada and 7 from Chandrasekharpur.
In the last 24 hours, 147 more patients have recovered from the disease in the city. The number of deceased due to COID has gone up to 1,007 with 3 more deaths during the period.
The active cases have gone up to 3117. A total of 1,08,532 people have so far been infected during the first and second waves of the pandemic.
