Bhubaneswar: Well-known specialist of internal medicine Dr Niroj Kumar Mishra has predicted that COVID-19 cases in Odisha will “come down appreciably” by the middle of next month.
“Going by the daily positive cases in Odisha, we see that the positive cases remain between 10,000 and 12,000. Considering the trend, we hope that the number will fall below 10,000 either from the last week of May or the first week of June. By mid-June, the state will heave a sigh of relief as the number of cases will come down appreciably,” Mishra told a news channel on Sunday.
He also said COVID-19 in Odisha is now at a plateau stage.
The doctor further predicted that the COVID test positivity rate (TPR) in Odisha will remain at 20 per cent till next week.
Irrespective of the number of daily tests, it is found that the TPR in Odisha remains around 20 per cent, he said adding that it will gradually start coming down either from May end or the beginning of June.
