Paradip: A total of 14 crew members of a ship docked at Paradip port have tested positive for COVID-19.
According to sources, the infected persons have been shifted from Paradip to a COVID hospital in Bhubaneswar.
The cargo ship ‘Yasa Mars’ had reached the Paradip port three days ago. It had last anchored at Tuticorin Port in Tamil Nadu after a voyage across several countries in the coastal shipping range.
All staff of the ship submitted a self-declaration form in accordance with the COVID-19 protocol following which 14 were found with symptoms of the infection. All staff members then underwent RT-PCR test and 14 among them were found to be positive.
The ship was sanitised after those infected were shifted to Bhubaneswar last evening and the remaining staff asked to quarantine themselves on the top cabin.
Earlier in the day, 10 students of the Institute of Technology (IIT) and another 20 students of Allen Institute in Bhubaneswar were found infected.
