Bhubaneswar: As many as 66 more COVID deaths were reported from various districts of Odisha, taking the toll to 5834 on Friday.
On the other hand, the Health and Family Welfare Department clarified that the toll list gives details of past deaths for which an audit process has been completed and the cause of death has been confirmed as COVID-19.
Of the new deaths reported from 18 districts, 11 are from Sundargarh, 10 from Cuttack, 8 from Khurda, 6 from Bhadrak, 5 from Jajpur, 4 each from Puri, Ganjam and Jagatsinghpur, 2 each from Balasore, Kendrapada, Mayurbhanj and Jharsuguda, 1 each from Boudh, Deogarh, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Koraput.
In terms of the total number of deaths, Khurda district has the highest of 1138 deaths followed by Sundargarh (520), Ganjam (435), Puri (350), Cuttack (335), Bargarh (284), Angul (247), Mayurbhanj (205), Kalahandi (196), Balasore (183), Sambalpur (174), Rayagada (159), Jharsuguda (153), Nayagarh (143), Kendrapada (130), Keonjhar (126), Dhenkanal (117) and Boudh (104).
