COVID Claims 8 More Lives In Odisha, 2 From Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha touched 8,092 on Saturday after eight more deaths were confirmed due to the disease in the last 24 hours.

According to the Health Department, two fatalities were from Cuttack and one each was from Balasore, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Malkangiri and Mayurbhanj districts.

Here are the details of the casualties:

1. A 53-year-old male of Balasore district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.

2. A 55-year-old female of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.

3. An 88-year-old male of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease, Hypertension & Alcoholic.

4. A 60-year-old male of Dhenkanal district.

5. A 32-year-old male of Jagatsinghpur district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Post transplant on immunosuppressant.

6.A 77-year-old male of Jajpur district who was also suffering from Anemia.

7. A 90-year-old female of Malkangiri district who was also suffering from Hypertension.

8. An 85-year-old male of Mayurbhanja district who was also suffering from Hypertension.

Odisha has reported 6,208 COVID deaths during the second wave as against 1,876 the previous year.

Around 6,000 fatalities were added in the last four months. August saw around 66 deaths a day, on an average, while it was 61 in July and 42 in June.

Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered last month, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June (1,272) and May (737), Health Department sources said.

Notably, the second wave of the pandemic has claimed the lives of 39 children and adolescents in Odisha. As many as 13 of these deaths were reported between August 10 and 31.
