Cuttack: The number of COVID-19 cases doubled in Odisha in the last 24 hours, climbing to 31 on Thursday from 15 on Wednesday, rising sharply after at least 13 inmates of a boys hostel at a private educational institution in Odisha’s Cuttack tested positive.
The institute falls under ward No. 59 of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC).
Fifty-six hostel inmates of the institute had undergone Rapid Antigen Test after showing COVID-19 symptoms. Of them, 13 samples tested positive. All students of the institution will undergo RT-PCR test on Thursday, informed Cuttack district COVID-19 nodal officer Umesh Ray.
According to the I&PR Department, 18 fresh cases are from quarantine and 13 local contacts.

Three cases are from the state pool.
With 10,522 samples tested in the last 24 hours, the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) stood at 0.29%.
