New Delhi: Amid the steady resurgence of COVID-19 cases, a four-day ‘Tika Utsav’ (Vaccine Festival) began in the country on Sunday.
The mass vaccination drive will continue till April 14 with the aim to vaccinate the maximum number of eligible people against the virus.
Also on Sunday, India recorded more than 1.5 lakh new infections, thereby becoming the second country after the US to cross the grim milestone.
In a tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked peopleto participate in the ‘Tika Utsav’ and follow all COVID-19 guidelines.
The PM had called for the vaccination festival during a meeting with Chief Ministers on Thursday. “Can we celebrate Tika Utsav from Aprill 11 to April 14? During this time, we should vaccinate as many eligible people as possible and target zero vaccine wastage,” he was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
