Puri: Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Thursday provided financial assistance to the sevayats.
Administrator (ritual) Jitendra Sahu informed mediapersons that the temple administration has given Rs 10,000 each to 2463 sevayats.
Sahu said that SJTA has taken this step as sevayats are facing acute financial crisis due to closure of the temple amid alarming rise in COVID-19 cases.
“The temple administration had provided Rs 5000 to each family of the sevayats in four instalments during the first COVID wave last year. Along with the remaining five instalments of Rs 5000 last year, it has provided another Rs 5000 to each sevayat during the second wave this year.”
