COVID Daily Caseload Drops Below 5K In Odisha; TPR 7.8%

Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID caseload dropped below 5,000 on Saturday as 4,842 more people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

The state had reported 5057 fresh infections the previous day.

According to the I & PR department, 2,809 of the new infections are from quarantine and 2,033 local contacts. Among them, 671 are in the age group of 0-18 years. Fifteen districts reported over 100 new cases with Khurda at the top of the tally with 1,253 cases, followed by Cuttack (443) and Nayagarh (210).

With these cases being detected from 63871 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 7.58 per cent against 8.20 per cent the previous day when 61,635 samples were tested.

Odisha now has 58,533 active cases.
