Brazil became the second country after the USA to lose over 4 lakh lives to COVID-19 pandemic.
The South American nation reported 3,001 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally since March 2020 to 401,417.
Brazil reached its peak at the start of April, with over 4,000 daily deaths.
The USA tops the list with nearly 5.90 lakh people succumbing to the virus.
Mexico is at No. 3, followed by India.
As for as the total number of people infected by the deadly virus since the global pandemic broke last year, India is in second place, behind the USA.
The total number of people who have died across the world due to COVID-19 is 3,182,057 while 151,234,158 have got contracted the virus so far.
