COVID Dip: India Logs Lowest Daily Cases In 50 Days

New Delhi: The country recorded 1.52 lakh new COVID infections in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported on Monday morning.

This is the lowest spike in daily infections since April 9.

Earlier in May, India’s daily COVID cases had hit a global record with an average of 4.14 lakh infections per day.

India also reported 3,128 new deaths in the last 24 hours, the lowest daily toll since April 26.

In more heartening news, active cases further declined to over 20 lakh and the number of recoveries escalated to over 2.56 crore.

So far, the country has recorded a total of over 2.80 crore infections and over 3.29 lakh deaths.

Meanwhile, the Centre is planning to redefine its vaccine strategy. The government has proposed to study the feasibility of mixing two different COVID vaccines to see if it helps boost immune response to the virus, The Indian Express reported.
