Keonjhar: The COVID Hospital at Ranki in Keonjhar is equipped with a dedicated Oxygen Generator Machine.
The plant has the capacity to generate around 8.5 lakh litres of medical oxygen (5 jumbo cylinders) per day.
Set up from DMF funds, the installation and connection to 45 ICU beds has been completed and is running in capacity from May 11.
The district administration has decided to purchase a dedicated ‘Oxygen Generator Machine’ to overcome short supply of medical grade oxygen. An order for it was placed in October 2020 and the machine was delivered in January 2021.
The installation work started in the last week of April 2021 and on May 10 all the installation work along with quality check was completed, informed sources in the district.
The ICU capacity of Ranki hospital was increased from 14 beds with 12 high-end ventilators during the first wave of COVID-19 to 45 with 26 ventilators now.
The peak demand for 45 ICU beds is estimated to be around 290 jumbo vylinders per day, which shall be met by the dedicated Oxygen Generator Machine, said the hospital authorities.
Spectacularly, the oxygenator device installed here can produce medical oxygen from compressed air by the Pressure Swing Adsorption method (PSA).
