Cuttack: Senior IPS officer and Director of Odisha Vigilance Directorate Debasis Panigrahi, who contracted COVID-19 recently, will be airlifted to Kolkata on Monday.
A four-member team of expert doctors of a super speciality hospital in Kolkata arrived at the Ashwini COVID hospital this morning. The team will later take Panigrahi in an air ambulance with the support of an ECMO machine to Kolkata.
According to sources, the 1991-batch IPS officer was admitted to the Ashwini COVID Hospital here on May 29 after he tested positive for the virus. Two days later, he was shifted to the ICU and then kept on a ventilator after his condition deteriorated.
As his oxygen level began to fall gradually and his condition did not show any sign of improvement, the hospital doctors, in consultation with the health experts, advised shifting him to the super speciality hospital in Kolkata.
