Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has agreed to meet the tax exemption demand of bus owners.
The Commerce and Transport Department on Monday announced the exemption of payment of tax and additional tax of stage/contract carriages and buses of all educational institutions in Odisha for the months of April and May.
Due to the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown and weekend shutdown, plying of inter-state buses has been stopped, affecting the normal fleet of intra-state buses.
Bus owners have been asking for exemption of tax payment, and the state government has obliged.
