Bhubaneswar: The twin city Commissionerate Police have decided to take action against people for misusing their identity cards during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Soumendra Priyadarshi told this to the media on Saturday.
The CP said it was found that a large number of people were misutilising the identity cards provided to them by their employers. These people are moving and gathering in busy market places during the lockdown, he said.
“The Commissionerate Police have not provided the pass to anyone for their movement during the lockdown and shutdown. But they allow the movement of the people on the basis of their identity cards,” Priyadarshi said.
“But as it is found that some people are freely moving in the cities by misusing their identity cards, we will ask the organizations concerned to submit a detailed list of the employees whom they have asked to work in their respective offices. The organizations will submit the list of the employees in the office of the DCP. Apart from this, the organizations will have to provide a letter of authorization along with the identity cards to their employees who will show them to the police,” he added.
