Bhubaneswar: Mother’s Day, one of SAI International’s flagship events, was a little different this time. But even COVID-19 couldn’t dampen the spirit of SAIoneers.

The school hosted a grand celebration on May 8 to honour the superwomen and express gratitude for all the hardships they bear in bringing up a child.

Students of SAI Angan, SAI International School and SAI Residential School, in the company of parents and well wishers, hailed all the mothers while remaining socially distant in a virtual ceremony.

Parents and teachers witnessed some scintillating dance performances in harmony with the mothers. Songs with mellifluous melody helped in lifting spirit of the audience.

Several students shared videos which they had recorded — narrating companionship, speaking of their special bonds with their mothers, poems composed for mothers — to make it an extraordinary day.

Some of the students put together thoughtful crafts at home, while some baked, twinning in clothes with mothers.

“It was a lovely celebration. Felt very good, I must say… even in this pandemic situation you all are taking classes and conducting activities so effectively. It’s a conducive atmosphere, feels like school at home created for children to read and groom themselves. All the teachers teach coolly and calmly without losing patience and getting irritated,” said the parents of Shayna Panda of Class I.

KG I student Anaisha Jena’s parents Sandhya Rani and Pradeep Kumar were all praise for the Mother’s Day programme.

“It was a great and amazing show. Congratulations to all teachers and the entire team who organized such a great programme. I like the teaching system of the school where all teachers focus on every single child. I am proud to be associated with SAI Angan,” they said.

Senior Principal, SAI International School, Neelakantha Panigrahi spoke about the virtues of mothers.

“Mothers are the epitome of love and warmth. All our students put forward wonderful acts of love for their mothers and put up an event that will stay in everyone’s memory for all times to come, amidst such extraordinary times. Mothers not just bring a beautiful gift of life, but remain the ultimate guiding force in a child’s life all through. For that special bond that exists between the child and mother, wishing all our wonderful mothers a very Happy Mother’s Day,” Panigrahi said.
