Jharsuguda: Panic gripped this western Odisha town after 21 students and staffers of Jharsuguda Engineering School tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.
Following the incident, the local tehsildar and Municipal authorities rushed to the engineering school and met the authorities concerned.
Talking to the media later, the officials said that after a student was tested positive for the virus a couple of days ago, the samples of 100 students and staffers were sent for the test and as per the report received on Saturday, 8 students, 13 teachers and staffers of the Engineering schools have tested positive.
Stating that the 21 infected students, teachers and staffers are kept in isolation, the officials said that the contact tracing of the infected will be expedited very soon.
Till reports last came in, the district administration is most likely to announce the engineering school and its nearby areas as containment zone.
