Rayagada: A family of Bijayapur village in Gupupur block in Rayagada district has turned super spreader of COVID-19.
According to reports, three members of a family had returned from Tamil Nadu a fortnight ago. After remaining in institutional quarantine, they were in home quarantine. During their stay at home, they came in contact with several people in the village. While 13 villagers, who had come in contact with this family had tested positive two days ago, another 74 villagers tested positive in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 90 people of Bijayapur have tested positive.
Rayagada Collector Pramod Behera said that of the 76 patients detected on Thursday, 20 have been shifted to COVID hospital in JK Pur while 56 have been shifted to the COVID hospital in Gunupur.
Out of 115 positive cases in the district, 17 are active and 98 are recovered cases.
