Bhubaneswar: About 1,200 strips of Fabi Flu (Favipiravir) tablets to cure patients with mild to moderate coronavirus are scheduled to arrive in Odisha on Monday.
Drugs Controller Mamina Patnaik informed that as a small quantity of the medicine prepared by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals will be available in the state in the first phase, they will be first sent to the COVID hospitals.
The tablets will eventually be available for purchase in the market after they are received in larger numbers in subsequent phases, Patnaik added.
She also stated that Remdesivir, which arrived in the state on Monday, were sent to the COVID hospitals for treating critically ill patients.

The drugs controller further informed, “At present, we have a stock of two lakh tablets and two lakh injections of Dexamethasone,” she added.
Dexamethasone is used to treat conditions such as arthritis, blood/hormone/immune system disorders, allergic reactions, certain skin and eye conditions, breathing problems, certain bowel disorders, and certain cancers. It is also used as a test for an adrenal gland disorder.
