Berhampur: Concerned over the rise in COVID-19 positive cases in Berhampur, the Ganjam district administration on Thursday declared a four-day shutdown in the city.
Briefing the media here, Ganjam collector Vijay Amruta Kulange said the shutdown will be implemented from June 27 to 30.
During the shutdown, there will be a door-to-door health survey in the city. Contact tracing, isolation and home quarantine will be monitored and supervised for which 70 health teams have been formed.
The members of these teams would also collect data on fever, cold, cough, TB, diarrhoea, blood pressure and diabetes of the people. The collector appealed to the public to cooperate with the medical teams and not hide any symptoms.
The collector further said that health services and milk supply will continue while all business and trading establishments will remain closed during the shutdown.
The city reported 32 positive cases between June 22 and June 25. Following the steady rise in the number of COVID-19 patients, the district administration has initiated these steps to sensitise the public to remain indoors and follow social distancing, wearing of masks and frequent hand wash.
