Nabarangpur: In view of the steady rise in COVID positive cases, the Nabarangpur administration on Wednesday declared weekend shutdown in the district for the entire month of July.
Briefing mediapersons here, Collector Ajit Kumar Mishra said that the entire district will remain shut on Saturdays and Sundays till July 31.
Barring the two-day shutdown, all business and trading establishments in the district will remain open from 7 am to 2 pm on the remaining five days, he said, adding, night curfew will remain in force from 9 pm to 5 am.
“To contain the spread of the virus, a congregation of more than 7 persons will not be allowed. Besides, large congregation during socio-religious activities have been restricted with not more than 50 persons in marriage and other functions and not more than 20 persons in funeral/last rites in the district,” Mishra added.
He further said that there will be massive enforcement drive against the people violating the COVID guidelines such as not wearing masks, spitting in public places and not maintaining social distancing norms.
As on June 30, the district had reported 42 positive cases.
