Sambalpur: After a long gap, a COVID-19 case has been detected in Odisha’s Balangir district.
An elderly person infected with the virus was admitted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, on Sunday.
This was revealed by VIMSAR superintendent Lalmohan Nayak.
Sources said, the patient was admitted to the Balangir district headquarters hospital and later shifted to VIMSAR as his condition deteriorated.
After this case came to the fore, the COVID centre which was lying closed, was reopened.
It was learnt that the case which was reported after a long gap created panic among local residents in Balangir.
Nayak further revealed that a girl student of VISSUT, who has tested positive for COVID, is now in isolation.
