Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday claimed that the COVID-19 positive cases in the state are much lower than what was projected earlier.
As compared to the all-India average, the number of positive cases in Odisha is much lower. This is due to the proactive steps taken by the state government,” Director, Public Health, Dr Niranjan Mishra told the mediapersons here.
He hoped to see a declining trend in some districts where the caseload is high due to lockdown and weekend shutdown.
Mishra also said for early detection of COVID patients, the state government has increased testing capacity and conducted targeted sampling. Apart from this, to accommodate more patients with critical conditions, arrangements are being made for more ICU and oxygen beds.
Referring to the prediction by the health experts on the onset of the third wave of the COVID-19, he said this is an assumption. “However, we have to be more cautious if such things happen and efforts have to be made to break the transmission chain,” he pointed out.
