Bhubaneswar: Here is some good news regarding COVID-19. The cases in the three hotspot districts of Puri, Cuttack & Khurda are on the decline.
Informing this, Directorate of Medical Education & Training (DMET) chief CBK Mohanty on Friday said the R-value in these areas is less than 1 % as the cases are on the decline.
Explaining the R Value, Mohanty said when the R-value is higher than 1, an infected person ends up transmitting the virus to more than one person. This leads to a rapid increase in the number of cases. However, the same pattern is not being observed on field which is an indication that the R-value is lower than 1% in Cuttack, Puri and Khurda.
Khurda district has the highest number of active cases in the state at 3,654 followed by its twin city of Cuttack which has 1,513 active cases and Puri which has 643 active cases.
On the other hand, test positivity rate (TPR) in Odisha stood at 1.74 per cent (below 2 per cent). The test positivity rate in Khurda district stands at 4.1 per cent followed by Cuttack with a TPR of 3.2 per cent and Puri 3.3 per cent TPR.
The state had reported a TPR of 2.02 on Thursday and 2.01 per cent a day earlier. It was 1.9 per cent on Tuesday.
