Rourkela: The COVID Registration Centre that is now functioning on BPUT campus has been relocated to the Ashraya Kendra near Chhend Bagudi Basti for the safety of the people.
Commissioner of the Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) Dibyajyoti Parida said anybody coming from outside to Rourkela was advised to first register at the registration counter on the BPUT campus, which has been used as COVID Care Centre, and then sent for home or institutional quarantine. It has been decided that the only COVID-19 positive patients will be accommodated at the COVID Care Centre.
Following the decision, COVID positive patients will be accommodated on the university campus. Since it will pose a risk of infection to the general public and returnees, the registration centre has been shifted, said Parida. The registration centre at the Ashraya Kendra near Chhend Bagudi Basti will operate 24×7.
Rourkela ADM Aboli S Naravane said the COVID Care Center in BPUT has been set up to accommodate only positive patients and the general public should not go there.
Earlier, the RMC had set up a 780-bed COVID Care Center in three separate buildings inside BPUT campus.
