COVID Restrictions: Weddings In Odisha To Get Leaner; Ban On Political Rallies

Bhubaneswar: Amid the spiralling COVID-19 cases, the Odisha government has decided to cap the number of guests in marriage and funeral-related events at 50 and 20 respectively.

Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra on Thursday said that there will be a total ban on political rallies and other social and religious gatherings.

Restaurants and bars will continue to operate with 50 per cent staff along with strict adherence to COVID19 norms.

Government offices to function with 50 per cent staff. Banks and other financial institutions will also be allowed to function with reduced staff strength.

OTHER DECISIONS

-All inter-state bus operations will be suspended from Monday (April 19)

-Intra-state bus operations to continue with sitting capacity only

-Only two passengers allowed in auto and taxi

– Only 1,000 people allowed at jatra/opera/open air theatre events. The number was 2,000 earlier. Maintaining social distance mandatory

– Cinema halls allowed to make booking for only 50% of total capacity seats

– Maximum of 200 persons allowed at entertainment and amusement parks
