Mumbai: There have been reports of violations of COVID-19 safety norms on board the Chandigarh-Mumbai flight which controversial actress Kangana Ranaut took on September 9.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has asked the concerned airline IndiGo tosubmit a report on alleged violation of social-distancing norms by mediapersons who were on the same flight.
Kangana and her sister Rangoli were travelling by flight 6E 264, which took off from Chandigarh at 12 noon and landed in Mumbai around 2.15 pm on Wednesday. During the course of the flight, some mediapersons kept leaving their seats to get close to where Kangana was seated and speak to her.
Kangana, who faced threats following her outspoken comments on the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, has recently been provided Y+ security cover by the Union Ministry for Home Affairs (MHA) following a request from the actress. She did not speak to anyone from the media during the flight.
“The cabin crew kept on requesting the media persons on board the flight to remain seated. The pilot also announced not to use their camera phones or shoot on board. However, they refused to obey,” an Indigo official said.
DGCA Director-General Arun Kumar said: “We have asked the airline to submit the report about the situation during the flight and the safety and social distancing norms violated by a few passengers. The report is expected soon.”
Kangana and the Maharashtra government have traded barbs at each other in recent days leading to the demolition of a part of the actress’ office in Mumbai. The court then passed an order to stop the demolition until she is heard.
