Bhubaneswar: With COVID cases spiralling in the last two days, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday declared four more areas in the city as containment zones.
The containment restrictions have been imposed on a particular plot at Nayapalli Brit Colony under Nayapalli police limits, two plots at Bhimpur, Unit 6, and two flats at Srikhetra Residency, Aiginia, as containment zones after detection of multiple COVID-19 cases, BMC sources said.
The civic body had banned the entry of the public into the containment zones. The inhabitants of the containment zones have been advised to stay indoors. Shopping establishments, government and private institutions located within the boundary of the containment zone will also be closed immediately.
The corporation would supply essentials and medicines in the containment zones, it added.
With this, the number of containment zones in the capital city has gone up to 14.
On Wednesday, 10 places in Acharya Vihar, Satyanagar, Bapuji Nagar, Bishnu Nagar, Sailashree Vihar, Pandara, Indian Oil Housing Society and Sainik School, including XIMB quarters, were declared containment zones to check the spread of the infection.
