Bhubaneswar: Amid a spike in COVID-19 cases, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has declared five more areas in the Odisha capital as containment zones to check further spread of the virus.
These places are at Unit-9, a plot behind Gurudwara in Unit-3, a flat at Annapurna Apartment at Tankapani Road, another at Utkal Royal Residency at Goutam Nagar and a plot near Apollo Pharmacy near Tankapani Road
Earlier in the day, the civic body had imposed containment restrictions on a particular plot at Nayapalli Brit Colony under Nayapalli police limits, two plots at Bhimpur, Unit 6, and two flats at Srikhetra Residency, Aigina, as containment zones after detection of multiple COVID-19 cases.
On Wednesday, 10 places in Acharya Vihar, Satyanagar, Bapuji Nagar, Bishnu Nagar, Sailashree Vihar, Pandara, Indian Oil Housing Society and Sainik School, including XIMB quarters, were declared containment zones to check the spread of the infection.
The civic body had banned the entry of the public into the containment zones. The inhabitants of the containment zones have been advised to stay indoors. Shopping establishments, government and private institutions located within the boundary of the containment zone will also be closed immediately.
The corporation would supply essentials and medicines in the containment zones, it added.
