Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government on Thursday announced a complete lockdown in the state to break the chain of alarming coronavirus transmission.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the lockdown, which he termed as ‘strict janta curfew’, will be effective from May 6 itself till May 15. He reasoned that the state has a positivity rate of over 18% and can’t remain open.
“To break the chain of transmission of coronavirus in the state, we have to completely shut everything till May 15, strict ‘Janta Curfew’. We can’t shut things for too long, but with more than 18% positivity, we can’t remain open,” Shivraj Singh said.
Madhya Pradesh had, last month, imposed strict curbs and restrictions in districts and cities with heavy COVID caseloads.
