Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has sought 50,000 doses of Corbevax vaccine in view of demand from public for precaution dose vaccination at government CVCs,

Family Welfare director Bijaya Kumar Panigrahi wrote a letter in this regard to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on April 10. “There has been a rise in COVID cases in Odisha and also there is a demand from public for precaution dose vaccination at government CVCs,” he wrote with requesting for supply of Corbevax with long expiry for the state at the earliest.

Since August last year, Biological E’s Corbevax is being administered as a precaution dose for people above 18 years double vaccinated with either Covishield or Covaxin. India’s first indigenously developed RBD protein subunit vaccine Corbevax was also used to inoculate children in the age group of 12 to 14 years under the COVID-19 immunisation programme.

Odisha has been witnessing an upward swing in daily caseload with 141 fresh infections in the last 24 hours, taking the active tally to 731. The state has a positivity rate of 2.8%. One death has been reported so far this year.
